The Woman's League of Mount Holly was organized in 1903 when nine women sought to meet the many needs they saw in town. Their first project was providing nursing care to needy townspeople. By raising money from door-to-door collections and a horse show, they began the Woman's League Nursing Service. This club was instrumental in hiring a township school nurse and, initially, even sharing her salary with the Board of Education. During the 1974-76 administration, the League headed up the "Save the Mount" project and won a Conservation prize from Shell Oil Company. The Club was recognized for its outstanding work on the Special State Project, Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), by the New Jersey Federation of Women's Clubs.
Our work continues today with many special projects. The Club has approximately 50 members from Mount Holly, Eastampton, Hainesport, Lumberton, Mount Laurel, and Westampton. However, our membership is not restricted to just these locations.

The general meetings are held on the second Monday of the month (except for July and August) Program begins at 7:15 p.m.
Once we return to our normal meetings beginning at 6:45 for a meet and greet fellowship, the location will be as follows:

State Woman's League Information

The NJSFWC is the largest and oldest non-denominational volunteer organization in the state founded in 1894. It currently has 175 clubs and over 7,000 members, throughout the state , unified in the effort to make a difference in our communities, one project at a time.
With over 80,000 members worldwide the GFWC is one of the worlds largest and oldest nonpartisan, nonprofit, nondenominational, women's volunteer service organizations, founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th Congress in 1901.
Upcoming Fundraisers
Several fundraisers are held during the club year to raise money for the various charitable causes this club supports. Scheduled for 2021-2022 club year are Terri Lynn Nuts, Fire and Ice Fundraiser, Bake Sales, Designer Bag Bingo, and yard sales.

President's Corner
"Together Everyone Achieves More" (TEAM)
Message from our President, Doreen…
Thank you to all the members who didn't stop working this past year during the pandemic but continued to actively help the community through various service projects! You truly exhibited this President's theme of "Together Everyone Achieves More" (TEAM)!
This past year, our Great TEAM donated food, money and gift cards to over a dozen organizations. Infants/children received items ranging from diapers, to birthday bags and school supplies. We supported our active military and their families as well as Veterans. Various recycled items were collected enabling the club to procure a TREX bench (or 2 or 3). Bingo prizes and themed parties were provided to Seniors and Nursing Home Residents. A local High School student was awarded a scholarship. Items were donated to help the Victims of Domestic Violence and Immigrant Workers. These were just a few of the many projects our members were involved in.
I'm anxiously looking forward to this year, where we can meet in person again and continue our vital work in helping the communities both near and far. Thank you all for your support in volunteering your time and talents to help others. As the President of the Woman's League of Mount Holly, I can say with pride, "What a Great TEAM we make"! I am looking forward to the start of a new club year with all my Mount Holly Federation Sisters!

First of all, this President is so very proud of how the members worked so well as a TEAM setting up, bringing refreshments, and working at the Designer Bag Bingo Fundraiser making it such a successful event! Thank you for all your help, it was greatly appreciated! It was nice to see members out together at a function other than seeing each other as a small picture on a laptop or hearing a voice via Zoom.

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly is proud to be a part of the GFWC as they were recognized and honored by the President of the United States for a job well done. We can rest assured the Violence Against Women act is going to continue, due in large part to the commitment of our members, to see it happen.

We’re still celebrating yesterday, when GFWC International President Marian St.Clair attended the White House event with U.S. President Joe Biden to commemorate the A very Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.

Way to Go....
GFWC Woman's League of Mt Holly member, Jill McDonald, will receive the "Jennie Award" at the General Federation of Women's Club's annual convention to be held in New Orleans June 24-29. This award, bestowed biannually, is the highest individual honor that can be earned by any Federated Club Woman. The award is named in honor of Jane Cunningham Croly who wrote for national newspapers under the pseudonym "Jennie June." The award is an occasion to highlight extraordinary club women who epitomize Jennie's spirit of independence, courage, and persistence through their roles as volunteers within their clubs, representatives of their community, and as members of a family or extended family. Jill was nominated by the WLMH one year ago. Her portfolio moved on through state, regional, and national levels before she was notified that she will receive the Federation's top individual honor at convention. Carol Ward, incoming President of WLMH, was a previous recipient.
