GET INVOLVED

RECYCLING

Our first bench has arrived.  Thank you Allan for your hard work in making it look so beautiful and Arlene for coordinating and collecting all those plastic bags.  Job well done and now onto bench #2.

TOGETHER WE DID IT

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly TEAMed with our surrounding communities and kept 1000 lbs of plastic out of the landfills. As a result we are now ready to dedicate two recycled benches to First Responders and also The Mt. Holly PD. We are inviting all of you to join us at the dedication ceremony on Wednesday November 17th behind the Mt. Holly Police Dept. near the Log Cabin. We couldn't have done this without our friends and neighbors and we would love to see you there to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment.

DEDICATED WITH LOVE

In a ceremony on Wednesday, The Woman's League of Mt. Holly was proud to dedicate two benches made from recycled plastic. One was made to honor the Mt. Holly Police Dept. and the other to First Responders. President Doreen Carnvale opened the ceremony with words of thanks to all those who came out to help us celebrate. Arline Dederick chairman for this project introduced Police Chief Richard Spitler and a representative for the EMT's, Carl Shaw, of the Fire Dept. They were both very appreciative of those in our surrounding communities who joined with the Woman's League to not only beautify the area, but to keep 1000 lbs of plastic out of our landfills.

Thank you Chief Spitler, Captain Pietrow, officers, K9 Officer Storm, Carl Shaw MHFD and all EMT's, for you service and dedication to those you serve.

OPERATION SMILE

WAY TO GO JILL

We are so proud to announce that our very own Jill McDonald has been nominated for the Jenny Award. The GFWC Jennie Award is named in honor of GFWC’s founder, Jane Cunningham Croly, who wrote for national newspapers under the pseudonym, “Jennie June.” The award highlights those extraordinary clubwomen who epitomize her spirit of independence, courage, and persistence in purpose through their roles as volunteers within their clubs and elsewhere in the community. All nominees are winners because of their dedication and love for what they contribute each and every day. The Woman's League of Mt. Holly wants to let Jill know how proud we are that a member from our club will now go on to compete with others for next year's title. Good luck Jill. You certainly deserve to win.

District VP Jill McDonald and husband Gil delivered 21 boxes of assorted items to Operation Smile in Virginia Beach Va. Donated from the Woman's League of Mt. Holly and various clubs in her District, Jill, delivered toys, essential supplies, goody bags and miniature hospital gowns. These were sewn with love by club members for the children who will have the life changing operation.

SAMUEL MILLER SENIOR CENTER and

VIRTUA REHABILITATION CENTER

Our dear friends at Samuel Miller Senior Center had a great time dressing up for Halloween. The Woman's League of Mt. Holly sent over some goodies for them to enjoy and they made it a special night for all. It is so special to see their smiling faces and to know they are having so much fun. Be sure to check out all the pictures

Laura, the Coordinator at Samuel Miller Senior Center, joins with 2 residents to accept our gifts to them for Christmas. The Woman's League of Mt. Holly loves to let our dear friends know how much they mean to us and have filled Santa's stockings with personal items like socks, tissues, kitchen towel, hand sanitizer, etc. We wanted to make certain they knew how 'sweet' we think they are and these big beautiful tree cakes and a goody bag filled with candy kisses and chocolate hugs sends a message from all of us to all of them says: "MERRY CHRISTMAS DEAR FRIENDS, WE WILL SEE OU NEXT YEAR. STAY SAFE, STAY HEALTHY."

And to all of you Merry Christmas

THE TREE

Wish Tree at the Burlington County Library – November 13 through December 15

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly is busy getting ready to decorate our Wish Tree at the Burlington County Library, but first it took a bunch of busy bees to make name tags and special decorations and we had a great time. Continuing our annual tradition of many years, hundreds of children from six local charities will benefit from the generosity of our neighbors. Beginning the weekend of November 13th stop in to see our beautiful display and take a tag. Your gift may be the only one they receive this year. Let us make certain these children have a wonderful Christmas.

Don't forget you too can join our TEAM and become a member. Contact Gerry Horne @ copperpenny09@comcast.com.

OUR WISH TREE IS READY AND WAITING FOR YOU.

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly has decorated our Wish Tree at the Burlington County Library and it is ready for you to make a child's wish come true. Many thanks to Lego Master Rich Parks for enhancing our theme with a snow scene from Lego Land. Pick a tag or you may choose from one of six organizations, to donate a gift card or check. Envelopes for each are waiting at our table and you may drop them in our specially designed LEGO tank.

  • Oaks Integrated Care (Westampton)

  • Pinelands Family Services (Browns Mills)

  • Generations Family Services (Mt. Holly)

  • Department of Children & Families (Westampton)

  • Operation MHPD (Mt. Holly)

  • Mosaic Early Learning (Lumberton)

Can't make it to the Burlington County Library? If you'd like to make a contribution to purchase gift cards, please send your donation via Venmo to @WomansLeague-ofMtHolly. Be sure to mark it "Wish Tree".

It's Valentine's Day .... let the love show.

By now you know that The Woman's League of Mt. Holly has a soft spot in our hearts for our friends at Virtua Re-Hab and Samuel Miller Senior Center in Mt. Holly. We wanted you to see how much it means to them to receive little treasures for each holiday. To the children and staff of the Hainesport School Art Class your cards were so special and your art work will hang on their walls for a long time. To the students at RVRHS National Honor Society, the personal items you donated were a welcome gift that they can all use. Ginger, a member of our club. donated a pretty piece of jewelry that they will treasure. Aunt Charlotte's in Merchantville donated candy for all. The pretty gift bags were donated by a local resident who wanted to support our efforts. And member Christine and daughter Emily worked so hard to put all this together. Thank you for sharing with our friends, the love you sent to make Valentine's Day special for each and everyone of them. Together we make a great TEAM

It is not too late....When members of The Woman's League of Mt. Holly visited the Burlington County Library today we were so very grateful to our friends, and neighbors who took a tag from the Wish Tree and dropped off their gifts for the children. We have a little way to go yet to see all the tags gone and gifts returned by this weekend. If we all join together we can do this, but time is running out

The magic of the season has many members hands now in the process of changing our Wish Tree into a thank you tree on Tuesday. All of you please stop by the Burlington County Library and take a 'Rudy the Reindeer' candy cane as a thank you from the Woman's League of Mt. Holly for your generosity in making certain the children in our community receive their 'Wish” for Christmas. We still have some tags left if you are interested in picking one up and purchasing a gift in the next couple of days.

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly want to wish you all a bright day filled with sunshine and thoughts of a warmer tomorrow. With our world turning green once again, at least today the sun is shining. Happy Easter to all and a special greeting to our friends at Samuel Miller who are enjoying our version of an Easter basket filled with goodies.

ANOTHER APPRECIATED DONATION

For the second year in a row The Woman's League of Mt. Holly thanks Dennis Dones, of Gamma Nu NU Fraternity from JB McGuire/Dix for joining with us to bring joy to so many children. This wonderful group is committed to supporting those in need and chose Generations Family Success Center to focus on. Accepting their gifts at the Burlington Count Library is Joyce Schultz 2nd VP and Dennis Dones, and was then delivered to Generations in Mt. Holly. Their generosity was welcomed there and so appreciated. It is an honor to be working with Gamma Nu Nu in this joint effort.

BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

Warming Tree from December 27 through January 31, 2022.

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly is looking to help gather accessories to keep our neighbors warm. Our giant Warming Tree at the library will be coming down soon and we are in need of hats, gloves, and scarves. The bitter cold we are feeling now, reminds us of those who can use our help, so please stop by the Burlington County Library with your donation.

As a thank you to the volunteers who helped them succeed over the last couple of very tough years. The Pemberton Family Success Center held a Volunteer Recognition dinner at the Country Lakes Clubhouse. The Woman's League of Mt. Holly was honored to be included and our representative's, Sisters-In-Law, Bonnie and Nancy Balsavage had a great time. Along with backpacks and other goodies donated throughout the year, members gather items each month for complete 'birthday kits' to be given to families with a birthday child. A cake pan, cake mix, icing, plates, napkins and decorations is a great way for families to bake up a treat to celebrate a very special day. A big thank you to Director Jenn Myers and Family Advocate Rick Carpenter for recognizing and honoring the work we do as part of your amazing team.

What fun we had with some of our Samuel Miller friends. Eight member's of the Woman's League of Mt. Holly's SOS team led by Kathy Fabritz delivered totes to the residents. Each bag created by our talented team was made with love from start to finish. The resident's thought they were great and had their choice of a one of a kind design. Our enthusiastic team is looking forward to sharing our handiwork with others that can use them.

A BIG THANK YOU...The Woman's League of Mt. Holly's Wish Tree has come down at the Burlington County Library. Used for three successful projects since October we have so many to thank for donating over 1500 pair of socks, $10,000 in toys, gift cards, and cash. Hundreds of hats, gloves, scarves and coats donated in January finished off our season and it was time to give our tree a rest. A final note from our friends at Pineland's Family Success Center. Someone who saw our tree at the library, read about all the great things they do in their community, sent them a gift of $100 and pledged to do so each month. Thank you to all for joining us in helping our neighbors.

CEREMONIES

On a 100 degree day last week, The Woman's League of Mt. Holly, celebrated the 100th birthday of Eleanor Voorhees. with a drive by parade. A dear friend and longtime member made her day even more special as she was honored for her dedication and continued service to more than 12 surrounding communities that our club serves. Family and many friends gathered in 100 degree heat to welcome our parade. Attended by her beloved caregiver Geraldine, Eleanor braved the intense heat and was excited to visit with club members she had not seen in a long time. Especially exciting for her was seeing four Mt. Holly Police cars let her neighbors know with their sirens, that they had a celebrity in their neighborhood.

C a n c e l l e d

At tonight’s Woman’s League Zoom Meeting it was decided not to participate in Fire and Ice this year. With our aging population and the increase of COVID cases in Burlington County, everyone thought it best to forego this activity for this year. Even with everyone wearing masks, people are still getting COVID.  Maybe by St. Patty’s Day, numbers may be down and we can participate in another activity in Mount Holly.

WISHES

A MERRY, THANKFUL CHRISTMAS TO ALL

As we enter this season of hope and peace, the ladies of The Woman's League of Mt. Holly wish all our friends and neighbor's a wonderful holiday. We wish you joy and good health and thank you for your support this past year. Not only for your generosity, but for the many kind words directed at our members who work tirelessly to bring those in need a measure of hope and peace.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

As we move into 2022 the GFWC Woman's League of Mt. Holly wants to wish our families, our friends, our neighbors a year of peace, good health and hope for a year of many blessings. As the last year progressed our ladies tried to thank you all for your overwhelming support of our projects. Our purpose and goal to help our neighbors in need was magnified over and over again as you all stepped up to help as we collected plastic bags, threw an apartment shower for Vets, supplies for the refugees at JBMDL, gifts for our Wish tree, socks for our homeless. The list goes on and on. As our ladies begin the process of writing our reports for the year 2021, it becomes apparent that you made us shine. You enhanced our reputation within our community. How appropriate our President, Doreen Carnvale's theme 'TEAM'. symbolizes 'Together Everyone Achieves More'. We could not done it without OUR TEAM.

Memorial Day

VETERANS

Let us not forget our Veterans

at Veteran's Haven South in

Winslow

Valentine's Day is a way to let

others know that we love and

appreciate them. What better way for the Woman's League to express love for our Veterans at Veteran's Haven South in Winslow, NJ than by giving them a gift from our hearts. With donations from members, Bette Kirby, Jean Wasnesky, Joan Beach and Ruth Conger, met at the home of Joelle Wentz, and had a fun time putting together bags filled with cupcakes, cookies, fruit snacks, Rice Krispie treats, pretzels, candies and lots of love. An abundance of goodies allowed us to fill 160 bags and 80 Veterans will receive 2 bags each.

Transitioning...When Veterans transition from Veterans Haven into their own apartments there are many things they need to set up their household. To give them the boost they need, Joelle Wentz a member of the Mt. Holly Woman's League, came up with the unique idea of holding an 'Apartment Shower' for Veteran's Haven. Many household items donated by the generous members of the Woman's League of Mt. Holly were collected and delivered by Joelle with the help of husband Dave, a proud veteran himself. Working to unload silverware, dishes, cups, pots and pans, glasses, towels, cooking utensils, microwaves and much more, Dave and his two helpers soon developed a shared rapport in the short time they were together.

The Woman's League of Mt. Holly is in awe of the 26 beautiful handmade quilts made and donated to us by the Needle and Thread Group of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. These were delivered by Joelle Wentz to Veterans Haven as an extension of our recent “Apartment Shower” for veteran's transitioning into their own homes. What a welcome gift to keep them warm and we thank Needle and Thread for their generosity and for joining us in our efforts to bring love and a smile to our veterans.

Veterans Transitioning continued...Representing The Woman's League of Mt. Holly, Joelle and Dave Wentz delivered the last of our collection of gifts to Veteran's Haven for project 'Housewarming Shower'. Microwaves, dishes, glasses, silverware and so much more, are giving a start to those transitioning to an apartment. Our hearts are full knowing that so many of you helped to make this possible and the veteran's were very appreciative of the generous bounty. One of those veteran's invited Joelle and Dave to see his African influenced artwork. What a beautiful display to share with everyone.
